Ingredients

500g grated bottle gourd (lauki)

200ml low-fat milk ๐Ÿฅ›

15g ghee (clarified butter) ๐Ÿงˆ

20g chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios) ๐Ÿฅœ

1 tsp cardamom powder ๐Ÿƒ, 1 small piece of cinnamon

1-2 tbsp honey/stevia/sugar-free for sweetness ๐Ÿฏ

Pinch of saffron strands (optional) ๐ŸŒผ

Two pinches of salt ๐Ÿง‚

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a pan ๐Ÿณ and add grated bottle gourd. Sautรฉ on medium heat until it softens and releases water. ๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿ’ฆ Pro tip: Add pinches of salt to quicken the water release process.

Step 2

Add low-fat milk to the pan and mix well. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture thickens. ๐Ÿฅ›โฐ

Step 3

Add chopped nuts, cinnamon, and cardamom powder to the pan. Mix everything together. ๐Ÿฅœ๐Ÿƒ

Step 4

Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about - minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to blend. โฒ๏ธ๐Ÿ”

Step 5

Add honey/stevia/sugar-free for sweetness, adjusting the amount according to your taste preferences. Mix well. ๐Ÿฏโœจ

Step 6

Optional: Soak saffron strands in a little warm milk and add it to the halwa for enhanced flavor and a beautiful color. ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿฅ›

Step 7

Cook for a few more minutes until the halwa reaches the desired consistency. It should be thick and creamy. โฐ๐Ÿฎ

Step 8
